Exorcist: Legion VR

PlayStation VR: "Samaritan" + "The Tomb" launching October 9th 2018!

Wolf & Wood has been hard at work.

Wolf & Wood has been hard at work.

We're pleased to announce that the scariest franchise of all time is coming to a conclusion with the final two chapters of The Exorcist: Legion launching just in time for Halloween. We know you’ve been waiting for it! The experience that UploadVR calls “one of the best VR horror experiences available” is finally reaching a crescendo. Chapter 4 & 5 will both be releasing on October 9th.

For those just joining us, The Exorcist: Legion is inspired by the mythology leading up to and following the Exorcist III feature film and franchise – you’re a homicide detective assigned to investigate the ritualistic murder of a priest. The crime scene has all the makings of a serial killer, but then you discover that it’s much more when all signs point to the return of a very evil entity. You gradually transition from an ordinary homicide detective to a full-fledged exorcist as you face down several ancient forces. Each episode features an entirely new setting with a different demonic entity in addition to unique hidden artifacts that upgrade your exorcism kit. There’s even an elusive “Pea Soup” achievement that many players have yet to find (one of our favorite homages to The Exorcist).

In this adventure YOU become the hero of the story, experiencing first hand every hair raising encounter. We won’t lie – this franchise has left quite a few VR users shaken, so buckle up! The serialized story is told through five, stand-alone episodes that run approximately 30 minutes each. Chapters 1 First Rites, Chapter 2 “Idle Hands” & Chapter 3 “Skin Deep”  launched earlier this Summer and now the final two installments take the story to its epic conclusion.

Chapter 4: Samaritan

Chapter 4 is titled "Samaritan" and transports users to the scene of a failed quarantine zone in Haiti. Racked by an unknown plague, a slew of health worker deaths have led to the collapse of efforts to control the mounting victim toll. You travel to a small aid center to discover what (or who) lies at the heart of the epidemic. In this episode you will encounter Baal, a demon who manipulates the elements to bring plague, pestilence and disease. The scale of his power is formidable, he is thought to be the source of many historic disasters. This chapter also contains the “Celtic Cross” crucifix upgrade (if you can find it). Chapter 5: The Tomb (Climax)

Chapter 5, titled “The Tomb”, is our grand finale and features an incredibly immersive underground environment.  In our climax, players are transported deep into the mountains of Upper Mesopotamia to face the demon Pazuzu where one last confrontation will put everything they have learned to the test. This episode features some unique VR mechanics as well as some powerful performances by our talented voice team. It all as been leading up to this moment – and it’s exhilarating. In addition to these final episodes, we have also made some upgrades to the calibration system in the police department “training room” as well as additional comfort settings to give players the most immersive experience possible (comfort blinders will be optional!) We’ve added new languages, bug fixes, and even more achievements. You can read all about them on our blog post here.

PSVR Updates

We are a bit over one week into our PlayStation release, and we're thrilled with the way The Exorcist: Legion VR is being received. Our developer, Wolf & Wood,  has done an incredible job delivering a detailed and nuanced episodic adventure and we couldn't be more proud of their work. We also love seeing your tweets, Facebook messages, emails, and comments.  Oh, and the YouTube videos! The community is absolutely amazing.  Have you seen the Chapter 4 gameplay trailer yet?

While we simultaneously prep episodes 4 & 5 for launch in the near future, we're also evaluating feedback on the first three episodes and making User Interface improvements to give you the most finely-tuned experience as possible.  Here are a few of those on our road-map:

We've noticed that a few users occasionally have issues with the spatial calibration of the experience in the "training room" portion of the  precinct. We're on the case! While we further optimize that process, here are a few tips you can use if you are encountering room-scale setup issues.

  • The "footprints" are a recommended starting position but this is not set in stone. We don't require you to be in this exact position to continue playing the experience.
  • We would suggest that on starting the calibration, move as close to the camera as possible and re-calibrate using the "OPTION/START" button on the controller. This will allow you to move the maximum amount of distance back and start in a good position to continue the rest of the experience.
  • Don't forget, you can also move the slider when setting your height!
  • If you are having issues with being too short or other similar situations, you need to delete your save data for the game and re-calibrate.  This calibration is critical and should be followed as instructed.  Once calibrated properly, this information is saved to your profile. Here is now to delete saved data https://www.playstation.com/en-au/get-help/help-library/system---hardware/storage---data/manage-ps4-saved-game-data-in-system-storage/

Some people have sent us messages requesting that the "FOV blinders" be disabled, or be made optional. Those comfort features were specifically requested by Sony to prevent simulation sickness, and we were not permitted to make them optional.  We certainly tried. If you use Vive or Rift headsets, you'll notice that the comfort settings are not required on those platforms.  The good news is that there is almost no chance of nausea on PSVR.

That being said, we recently we took your constructive comments back to Sony and have asked them to re-evaluate this mandatory feature and make it optional for those power-users who are unaffected by simulation sickness.  We'll update you IF we are successful in pushing this setting through with the PlayStation team.

We are also tweaking walk speed for the entire series when Chapters 4 & 5 launch. While this experience is intended to be methodically explored (take your time to discover),  we definitely want to offer increased speed options for those exorcists who want to be faster on their feet.  Just be warned, there are numerous things you might miss if you rush. For example, a very small minority of folks have found the Pea Soup Achievement.  Trust us, it's there.

Although we've spent months testing, we can't catch every single bug.  If you see something that can be consistently reproduced, we'd love to hear your feedback at www.exorcistlegion.com/bugs.

If you would like to be notified when we roll out the new episodes as well as the above improvements, please sign up below for our email notification list to get the news first.

Yours in Spirit,

The Exorcist: Legion VR Unleashes Spine-Chilling Horror on PlayStation®VR

The Exorcist: Legion VR Unleashes Spine-Chilling Horror on PlayStation®VR

Fun Train and Wolf & Wood Deliver a Horrific Tale Through Five Immersive Episodes – Chapters 1 – 3 Available Now for $6.99 Each from the PlayStation Store

LOS ANGELES, CA – June 19, 2018 – Fun Train, publishers of top-quality virtual reality games based on iconic cinematic franchises, announced today that The Exorcist: Legion VR is now available for PlayStation®VR from the PlayStation Store. Leveraging the power of VR, the game transports players into a chilling world created by horror maestro, William Peter Blatty, author of the Academy Award-winning Exorcist series. Through five, intense episodes (each approximately 30 minutes) players will unravel a twisted story - each one featuring a unique demonic entity that will test player’s courage and resolve.

Following is a summary of the first three chapters players will experience in The Exorcist: Legion VR:

  • Chapter 1 – “First Rites” - Players step into the shoes of a Boston homicide detective tasked with investigating the ritualistic murder of Father Bell, a priest at a local church. It has all the makings of a serial killer, but they soon discover that it’s much more…Father Bell was on the verge of uncovering an evil entity beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. Now players must pick up where he left off, transitioning from ordinary homicide detective to full-fledged exorcist.

  • Chapter 2 -  "Idle Hands" - Explore what happens when people dabble in forces they don’t fully understand. Back at the police station, the player receives a package from a stranger directing them to investigate the sudden psychotic episode of an institutionalized school teacher who is tormented by an unseen force. The entity they encounter is as old as Babylon itself and is adept at using illusion to prevent them from severing its hold over its victim.

  • Chapter 3 – “Skin Deep” -  In this chapter players will encounter Abyzou, an entity who has been blamed for infant mortality throughout the history of civilization. Many cultures have encountered her, and she has many names - from Lilith in Hebrew to Medusa in Greek. It's the player’s task to force her to reveal herself, protect a newborn baby and send her back from whence she came!  Sounds easy? Not so much- she’s quite persuasive.

Chapters 1 – 3 of The Exorcist: Legion VR are available now for download from the PlayStation Store for an SRP of $6.99 each and the Complete Series (including the forthcoming Chapter 4 "Samaritan" and Chapter 5 "The Tomb") is available for $29.99.  Players can purchase a Season Pass for $24.99 (Chapters 2- 4; Chapter 1 required).

Maria Del-Mar Pregnancy Rumors

International runway and print model Maria Del-Mar and her husband Antonio announce that, despite rumors, all is well with their first pregnancy.  “Although this was all unexpected, we couldn’t be happier,” said the new daddy in a statement.

Reps for Maria say her sudden absence from the runway last Spring will continue indefinitely until “she’s ready to return to the world stage in full form”.  Maria, who was considered one of the industry’s most visible stars, completely cut off her social media channels and appearances once becoming pregnant. In one of her last interviews, she was quoted as being unsure about becoming a mother and questioning her choices, causing some backlash from the public.

To stay up to date on Maria’s return, please visit the happy couple’s announcement site here.
